LOCAL 1825 SURVEY
Dear AFT Members:
One of the important aspects of any organization is
its ability or willingness to perform self-evaluations. Clearly, we are at a
critical crossroads in the history of this organization. Those members who
started this organization have either retired or will be retiring in a few
years. This means that members who were the pioneers will not be active to
ignite the sparks which resulted in major victories at the bargaining table.
However, we cannot afford to lament on “where we were” at the
expense of “where we are going.” That’s why we are conducting this
survey. We must begin ...now... to plan the approach for us to
strengthen the very foundation of this union. THIS CANNOT BE DONE WITHOUT
INPUT FROM EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF THIS UNION. Once the survey is
completed, the results will be distributed to each member. It will be the
responsibility of our Executive Board to initiate policies in the form of
recommendations to the Building Rep Council. Undoubtedly, the general
membership will have the final voice in determining exactly how this union
should be structured in the next decade and beyond. Please take a few
